Mahlkönig X64 SD

64mm Special Steel Flat Burrs · Zero Retention · 1,950 RPM · Stepless 0–12 · Anti-Popcorn · <65dB · Made in Germany — Espresso to Cold Brew

The Mahlkönig X64 SD is a single-dose flat burr grinder that brings Mahlkönig's commercial-grade burr engineering into a compact, home-friendly package. Built around 64mm special steel flat burrs manufactured in Germany and spinning at 1,950 RPM, it grinds at 2.5–6 grams per second across the full range from fine espresso to coarse cold brew — with consistent, even particle distribution every time. The zero-retention grinding chamber and bellows system together clear the chute completely between doses, making the X64 SD a true single-dose grinder that wastes nothing and keeps every cup tasting fresh.

What separates the X64 SD from the crowded 64mm field is pedigree and precision. Mahlkönig burrs are produced in their Hamburg facility as part of the Hemro Group alongside Ditting, Anfim, and HeyCafe — some of the most respected names in professional grinding. The X64 SD's stepless micrometric dial (0–12 scale) gives you micron-level adjustment across all brew methods, paired with a grind size reference guide inside the lid so you can replicate recipes without guesswork. Multiple hopper attachments — standard (30g), anti-popcorning (30g), and extension (100g) — plus an 80g bellows and magnetic stainless steel dosing cup and funnel make this a complete, well-considered package for serious home baristas.

Key Features
Burrs 64mm Special Steel Flat Burrs — Made in Germany Mahlkönig's 64mm special steel flat burrs are produced in their Hamburg facility — the same production line supplying commercial machines worldwide. Flat burr geometry produces a higher proportion of uniform-sized particles than conical burrs, delivering clarity, flavour precision, and consistent extraction across all brew methods. Burr life rated at approximately 500kg at median setting
Zero Retention Zero-Retention Chamber + Bellows System The X64 SD's internal grinding chamber geometry is engineered to minimise grounds build-up, while the included 80g-capacity bellows clears any residual grounds from the chute with a quick squeeze. Switch between beans and brew methods without cross-contamination. Every dose is as fresh as the one before it
Grind Adjustment Stepless Micrometric — 0–12 Scale + Grind Guide Fully stepless micrometric adjustment on a detailed 0–12 scale gives you micron-level control across the full grind range from fine espresso to coarse cold brew. A built-in grind size reference guide inside the lid maps brew methods to scale positions — making it easy to dial in and replicate your preferred recipes reliably
Speed 1,950 RPM · 2.5–6 g/s — Fast Single Dose At 1,950 RPM idle speed, the X64 SD grinds espresso doses at a minimum of 2.5 g/s — reaching 6 g/s on coarser settings. A 16–18g espresso dose completes in under 8 seconds on fine settings, keeping your morning workflow quick and responsive without compromising grind quality
Anti-Popcorn Anti-Popcorn Accessories — Consistent Bean Feed Light, low-density, or oily beans can skip across the spinning burrs rather than feeding cleanly — causing uneven grind particle distribution. The included anti-popcorning hopper accessories prevent this, ensuring smooth, consistent bean feed from the first gram to the last for uniform particle size and better extraction
Workflow Magnetic Dosing Cup + Funnel — Clean Bench Workflow The magnetic stainless steel dosing cup clicks securely into place under the chute for a clean, hands-free grinding position. The included funnel reduces static scatter and guides grounds cleanly into your portafilter or brew vessel. Multiple hopper options — 30g standard, 30g anti-popcorning, and 100g extension — cover both single-dose and batch-grind workflows

Frequently Asked Questions
The X64 SD and DF64 Gen 2 occupy similar price territory with the same burr diameter, but differ in key areas. The X64 SD runs at a fixed 1,950 RPM — fast and consistent. Its burrs are manufactured in Germany by Mahlkönig as part of the Hemro Group, bringing genuine commercial grinding heritage to the home format. The DF64 Gen 2 offers variable RPM which some users prefer for temperature-sensitive light roasts. The X64 SD's magnetic dosing cup, anti-popcorn system, and bellows are included in the box, and the grind guide inside the lid is a practical detail for new single-dose users. Call Di Pacci on (02) 9758 0760 if you'd like a side-by-side recommendation based on your machine, brewing style, and budget.
The X64 SD is a genuinely all-method grinder. The stepless 0–12 scale covers fine espresso through coarse cold brew, and the grind size reference guide inside the lid maps brew methods to specific dial positions. The 64mm flat burrs produce the particle uniformity that filter and pour-over brewers demand — clarity, separation, and consistency. Many home baristas use the X64 SD as their sole grinder across espresso on weekday mornings and V60 or batch brew on weekends, switching between settings and cleaning with the bellows between doses.
The X64 SD's grind quality, zero retention, and precision adjustment make it an excellent match for mid-to-high-end home espresso machines in the $1,500–$4,000+ range — machines that can actually resolve the difference the burrs make. Strong pairing options available at Di Pacci include the ECM Classika PID, Rocket Appartamento, Lelit Mara X, Rancilio Silvia V6, and La Marzocco Linea Mini. The magnetic dosing cup works with 58mm portafilters for a clean, direct transfer. Call Di Pacci on (02) 9758 0760 for a personalised machine and grinder pairing recommendation.
Mahlkönig rates the X64 SD burrs at approximately 500kg of coffee ground at median setting. For a home barista grinding 15–20 grams per dose, once or twice daily, that represents many years of use before a burr swap is needed. Burr replacement involves removing the upper burr — accessible from the top of the grinder. Replacement burrs are available through Di Pacci. Note that actual burr life varies depending on grind size setting, bean density, and roast level — lighter roasts and finer settings accelerate burr wear compared to medium settings.

Product Assessment for warranty repair.

Once proof of purchase has been established, if the product fault can safely and clearly be determined, we will offer you either a refund, exchange or repair. The available remedy will depend on whether the fault amounts to a major failure. In some instances, we may need to consult with the manufacturer or importer to determine the fault and resolution. Most faults can be easily repaired within a reasonable time frame. We will not offer a repair or replacement if the product has been damaged via misuse or abuse. Examples include but are not limited to inadequately filtered water, lime scaling, corrosion due to high chloride ion concentrations in water, operator errors, unauthorised repair work or modification and fair wear and tear.

Whist we understand that many clients would like a loan machine in the event of a warranty item, we regret that this service is not available. We prioritise all warranty work over general repair to ensure the most rapid service possible.

  •     Where there is no fault found, the product will be made available for collection by the customer.
  •     When assessing product fault, it is up to you whether you would prefer to deal with Di Pacci Coffee or the manufacturer or importer directly. It may be more convenient for you to liaise with the manufacturer or importer directly (which may be more time efficient). You certainly have that option. We are happy to provide you with their relevant contact details to assist you.

If you are experiencing problems operating your product, we strongly recommend that you contact us

It is our experience that often when customers believe the product they have purchased is faulty; it can usually be resolved with some basic ‘troubleshooting’.

What should I do if I have if I have fixed or bulky items to return?

If your product cannot be easily returned to us please contact us and we will do our best to offer a local solution. Please note that this may not be possible in all areas of United Kingdom.

What happens if I have purchased a product online and need to return it?

Items can be returned by mail. Please contact us to coordinate this.

If I can’t find my receipt, can I use a bank statement as proof of purchase instead?

1 Unfortunately Dipacci Coffee Company will not accept a bank or credit card statement unless the amount shown on that statement directly corresponds to the amount at which the product in question was purchased. Where multiple items were purchased in that transaction, it limits our ability to establish proof of purchase. We cannot provide copies of receipts if lost or misplaced.
2  Please note: When a refund is granted, we will refund the original purchase price via the previous method of payment indicated on the receipt.
